Just add colour...

Today I have been using the black and white side of the Sale-a-bration Botanical Butterfly DSP. I'm not sure if I intended for the cards to be so colourful but I'm really pleased with how they turned out.

The first two cards you see here have been coloured using Stamping' Up! watercolour pencils and the all important blender pens, Going over the colour with a blender pen makes it so much more vibrant. Don't forget to blend the lighter colours first or 'scribble' on a piece of scrap between colours.

The first card has been coloured with pacific point, bermuda bay and daffodil delight, the second with rich razzleberry, melon mambo and pumpkin pie.

I have also used the same set of watercolour pencils for the diagonal striped card and have used real red, pumpkin pie, daffodil delight, old olive, bermuda bay, pacific point and rich razzleberry. The butterflies on the 'you're just lovely' card have been stamped in all 5 of the 'gala' colours using the solid wings in the butterfly gala stampset. The sentiments are all from Oh So Eclectic apart from 'a little note' and the die cut shapes are from either stitched shapes or stitched labels.

This designer series paper is so beautiful I can't believe it's available free!

Beautiful butterflies

I’ve really enjoyed playing with the Butterfly Gala bundle today using only the ‘gala’ colours of balmy blue, highland heather, grapefruit grove, daffodil delight and lemon lime twist.

This first card is 6 inches square (155mm square approx.) The butterflies are stamped on whisper white in balmy blue, grapefruit grove and highland heather and sit on a stitched square of the same colour. The sentiment is stamped directly onto the card base.
This card is A6 size and uses daffodil delight cardstock and a small piece of lemon lime twist gingham gala dsp. The sentiment is stamped in balmy blue, the butterflies have been stamped on whisper white using balmy blue for the detail and a combination of daffodil delight, lemon lime twist and balmy blue applied with daubers for the solid areas. I punched 4 extra butterflies from white card and glued the layers together to make the height match that of the wooden outline. a small amount of linen thread is attached to the back of each of the butterflies. Two wooden flower shapes have been added using the super sticky glue dots.

This sweet little card is 4 inches square (100mm square approx.) and is cut from grapefruit grove cardstock. I have used all 5 'gala' colours to stamp the little butterflies and stuck them around the stitched circles with the sentiment stamped in grapefruit grove. The circles have been adhered to the card using mini dimensionals.

Lastly, another A6 card made using just one colour - balmy blue. This card uses the sale-a-bration item organdy ribbon which you get in all 5 'gala' colours.

All of these cards have been made using items from the 'purchase bundles' in my posts earlier today. The only extras are daffodil delight cardstock (card 2), linen thread (card 2), stitched shapes framelits (cards 1 & 3), multi purpose glue, mini dimensionals (card 3) and glue dots (cards 2 & 4).

Please have a look at the earlier posts if you are interested in purchasing the butterfly gala bundle, now really is the perfect time to buy and I would love it if you chose me as your demonstrator.

Thanks for looking,
Katie x

Butterfly Gala - selection 2

The same items as in selection 1 but with some added extras to make this a great start up set. There is a pack of Whisper White cardstock and 5 uninked stamp spots, 5 daubers and ink refills in all 5 ‘gala’ colours. The extra spend also enables you to choose another free Sale-a-bration item, I’ve shown the wooden shapes but the butterfly dsp would also work perfectly.

Ink refills with uninked stamp spots are a really economical way of building up a collection of colours. You can always invest in full size ink pads of your ‘go to’ colours at a later date and you’ll already have the refill!

I love using daubers and try and keep one for each ink colour I have. You can use them to apply ink to a stamp giving a more subtle effect and to add different colour inks to one stamp.

This selection of products is perfect for new stampers, you really only need to add an acrylic block and some glue to get creating.

Butterfly Gala - selection 1

Happy New Year and welcome to Spring/Summer!

Over the coming weeks I will be sharing with you my favourite sets from the new Stampin' Up! occasions and sale-a-bration catalogues. You will see some of the projects I make as well as product purchase suggestions to take advantage of the Sale-a-bration offer.

Let's start with one of the new butterfly sets - Butterfly Gala.

I love this set and as it is bundled with a punch rather than dies it is perfect for new crafters who perhaps haven't yet invested in a big shot or other die cutting machine. I also love the colours it is shown with in the catalogue, very cheerful and Spring like.

The two different sizes of butterfly stamp together and are perfectly placed for the punch. There are four really pretty detailed stamps and also solid stamps if you want to colour the wings.

I love the 6x6 gingham dsp, you get 8 sheets each of the 5 different colours and each sheet is printed with a large check on one side and a small check on the other. The cardstock pack has 8 sheets each of 3 of the ‘gala’ colours.

The free Sale-a-bration item here is the organdy ribbon pack, perfect colour co-ordination with the dsp and cardstock.
