katiedrewcards: More cake...

Here are some more cards made using the wonderful 'piece of cake' bundle...

I have used the lovely soft sea foam paper from 'Twinkle Twinkle' as a background for this card, I love the colour and think it makes the flirty flamingo really stand out.

The polka dot paper here is from the Sale-a-bration item 'Botanical Butterflies' it has colour on one side and black and white on the other, I think it works really well with the cake coloured in melon mambo.

I wanted to show how the set can also be used to make a more masculine card, I think the bright colours and striped background work. I stamped straight onto the layer this time, it was really easy to line up the cake stand, cake and candles.

I hope you can see in the close up below that the cake has a shimmery effect. I used the champagne mist shimmer paint applied with a dauber. A little tip to get the shimmer paint in the right place is to punch out the cake using scrap card (pop the cake stand piece back in) and use it to mask off the area outside of the cake.
