Lovely Phlox

Today has been a beautiful sunny day and it has been lovely to spend some time relaxing in the garden. I couldn't resist a sneaky hour in my craft room though to create this card inspired by a lovely phlox plant.

The little flower stamp and the leaves come from the aptly named Lovely You stamp set.

Both have been fairly haphazardly stamped, sometimes stamped off once or twice to create different shades of the same colours, highland heather and granny apple green.

The flower centres have been coloured with mango melody blends and I've added some highland heather blend colouring to the outside edges of some of the flower petals. I stamped some extra ones, fussy cut them and stuck them on as I didn't like seeing the end of the leaf stalk!

The sentiment is also from Lovely You and has been punched (on one side) using the co-ordinating Lovely Labels Pick A Punch. A little white bakers twine is wrapped around the sentiment piece several times before tying a small bow.

The white stamped and gorgeous grape layers have been cut using stitched rectangle dies and the granny apple green layer has been trimmed so that just a small border of colour shows.

The Brilliant Wings butterflies are finding there way onto so many of my cards and I couldn't resist adding one here, cut from basic black cardstock.

You can't beat the beauty of nature, these phlox flowers look so pretty in the sunlight, I'm really pleased with my attempt at recreating them.

Lovely You has lots of sweet little flower and foliage stamps and some great sentiments. If you are tempted to create some floral images inspired by what's in your garden it's a great stamp set to have.
