Winter Cheer

It’s a miserable wet day today, not what you hope for August Bank Holiday weekend but perfect for crafting winter themed cards. I did this one for a sketch challenge and I’m really happy with how it turned out.

I love the Spirited Snowmen from the Autumn/Winter Catalogue. Not long to wait now, you can order from 5th September.

For this card I went with a red, white and blue colour scheme. The layering squares are (from the back) pool party, whisper white and real red. The bottom two layers have been stamped around the edge using the snowflakes with balmy blue ink. The circles are pacific point and balmy blue and the strips across the middle are cut from the 'brights' 6x6 dsp using pacific point.

I coloured the snowmen with watercolour pencils and a blender pen, this is a fantastic way of colouring smaller areas as there is no colour bleed. To complete the design I tied a small bow with the lovely silver and pool party baker's twine.

I am currently putting together a series of video tutorials to coincide with the launch of the Autumn/Winter Catalogue. Look out for my ‘12 days of Christmas’ posts and details of how you could win the 12 cards featured. I will also be launching a ‘pick a colour’ order incentive. Fun times ahead!

Pretty in pastels

I loved making this card, I could tell as it started to come together it would be really pretty. I have used a background stamp from the new bokeh dots set but the greeting stamp and the die cut tree are from the new Autumn/Winter catalogue. You will be able to order from this catalogue when it goes live at the beginning of September.

The colours used are night of navy, balmy blue, pool party, highland heather and blushing bride. I used drops of ink from the ink refill bottles on a wet wipe to create the ‘multi coloured’ look. The tree is raised up off the card using mini dimensionals and the pieces of bakers twine are simply stuck to the back of the tree with sticky tape. I have used a new product from the A/W catalogue called shimmer paint (in frost white) to add some sparkle to the tree and finished it off with a pink sequin.

I must say I’m really pleased with this one, I hope you like it too x

Out come the dandelions again...

I can't stop playing with Dandelion Wishes, it stamps beautifully with both strong and delicate colours.

This time I went for gorgeous grape and petal pink for my third wedding card this week. The card base is whisper white but the petal pink layer is only a fraction smaller, this layer has the 'flyaway seeds' randomly stamped in petal pink for a subtly patterned base.

The three dandelions and the sentiment are stamped in gorgeous grape on whisper white card, a little petal pink has been applied using a sponge dauber and then a gorgeous grape enamel dot sits at the centre of each dandelion.

A layer of gorgeous grape card behind the white edges the image nicely.

This is a set that I think I will use again and again and can't wait to put together some more pretty colour combos.

I hope you like it,
Katie x
