It feels like it hasn't stopped raining all winter and today I felt the need to make a cheery, colourful card. Spring is on it's way.....hopefully.
The colours used are pool party, mango melody and poppy parade.
Step 1.
Punch a selection of vases with the Vases Builder Punch using pool party card stock and brights dsp. The little 'bowl' is the vase on the left with the neck cut off.
Step 2.
Stamp the sentiment and orchid stem from Varied Vases using black memento. I often stamp a sentiment off centre as it is tricky getting something perfectly in the middle, this way it doesn't matter.
Step 3.
Stamp the background using the same three colours used for the vases, there are some lovely texture choices in the Artisan Textures set, it's best not to go overboard here, less is definitely more. I have used a linen style card which adds another dimension to the texture but embossing smooth card stock using the subtle embossing folder would have a similar effect.
Step 4.
Colour the flower petals using a Stamping' Write marker and add a coloured gem to each of the flower centres.
Step 5.
Using a ruler as a guide stick the large vase on making sure the orchid stem is in the centre. Then add a different coloured vase slightly to the right but overlapping the first. The last two vases are stuck on using dimensionals one on each side to balance it out.
This card comes together quickly and is fun to make, Changing the colours would alter the feel of the card completely, as it is it makes a lovely birthday, mother's day or get well card, if the colours were more subtle I think it would work as a sympathy or thinking of you card.
The textured background really adds something to the design, it's a great way to tie in the colours you are using for the main design elements.
