Today I stitched a heart...

I feel like I am constantly turning to my stitched dies lately, whether it be the new stitched rectangles and be mine stitched hearts as used here, or the stitched shapes and labels which are also never very far from my desk. Today I thought why not try actually adding thread, so out came my sewing needle and, using rose metallic thread, I stitched.

I love the effect it gave and it was pretty simple to do, I used manageable lengths and just stuck the end on the back each time I started and finished. It's probably pretty obvious from the picture but i used the centre left hole at the top and worked that half of the heart stitching into every hole until I came down to the centre left hole at the bottom, this was then repeated on the right hand side.

The background has been very lightly stamped in smoky slate using the texture stamps from Beauty Abounds and the sentiment is in berry burst from Well Said. The stitched white rectangle is layered onto berry burst and then added (using foam strips) to a smoky slate card base. Three little white sequins was all I felt it needed to finish off the design.

Back soon,

Easter Greetings...

What a beautiful week we have had, it's been so warm and sunny, it definitely feels like Spring is here. Easter is very late this year but we're almost into April so here are a couple of Easter cards using the sweet set Fable Friends.

This first card uses the bunny, the colours I have used are balmy blue, crumb cake and ivory for the colouring; whisper white, balmy blue and crumb cake card stock, balmy blue gingham dsp and sahara sand daubed on the white layers to soften the edges.

The little wooden pieces are sale-a-bration items (free with a spend of £45 or more but only until the end of this month) I have used the pinewood planks embossing folder to add texture to the crumb cake layer. The scalloped/stitched edge of the gingham is created using a die out of the be mine framelits set. I think this design would also work well as a new baby card.

The second card, in soft sea foam and blushing bride uses the 'mother' duck. The stitched rectangles framelits have been used for the blushing bride layer, the soft sea foam has been embossed using the tufted embossing folder which gives a lovely quilted like texture.

Hello Friend

I had fun making these today using the wonderful sale-a-bration Country Floral Embossing Folder. The fold was inspired by some lovely cards I have seen by fellow Stamping' Up! demonstrators Priscilla Ivler and Kathy Maurer.

The colours used are grapefruit grove and mint macaron, the patterned side of the sale-a-bration Painted Season DSP in these colours is gorgeous.

The card size is A6 with about 1 inch cut off to reveal a strip of dsp stuck to the inside. I used the decorative straight edge from the Be Mine Stitched Framelits to create the scalloped edge. Only the front face of the card has been embossed using the Country Floral Embossing Folder. Both of the panels for 'Hello' and 'Friend' are cut using the Stitched Labels Framelits, and the Well Said bundle provides both the stamped Hello and the die cut Friend.

I have already used Well Said loads, I love the simple font of the stamped words and phrases and the dies are a really good size, such a versatile set!

Lastly, I added the colour co-ordinated Nature's Twine, wrapped around and tied with a simple knot, I used a glue dot below the knot to secure it in place.
