A lifetime of love & happiness....

Today is a special day in the Stampin' Up! calendar, lots of demonstrators are attending a conference known as On Stage where the new annual catalogue is revealed. I'm not there this year but maybe next year.....

Having seen a few little sneak peaks, I know we have some lovely new sets to look forward to. It is an exciting time but it goes without saying there will be sets that we have to say goodbye to, to make way for the new.

I have absolutely no idea what is retiring but I thought today I would have a play with a couple of favourites of mine - Dandelion Wishes, from the current annual catalogue, and First Frost, from the previous Autumn/Winter catalogue. Both sets are current and available at the moment but the big question is, will they carry over?

The card I have created uses the sentiment 'Wishes for a lifetime of love & happiness' from Dandelion Wishes; I love the whimsical font and think it is perfect for an engagement or wedding card. The colours are highland heather and mint macaron, with the ribbon and gems in gorgeous grape. I cut a square of whisper white 140mm square and stamped the dandelions in the bottom left corner making sure the stamp was off the edge of the paper, I stamped again on the left hand side and the bottom, I then infilled with the delicate stem stamp from First Frost.

I wanted a reasonable amount of white space but felt a little colour was needed in the top right hand corner so repeated the stamping but this time much more 'off the paper'. This layer was mounted onto a mint macaron square cut a little bigger - approx 145mm square.

The sentiment was cut using a stitched oval with a mint macaron scalloped oval behind and I used ribbon to make a loop above and a small bow below.

I finished off the card by adding some glitter enamel dots to the centre of each of the dandelion heads.

I hope you like it, I will be back very soon with some more info about what is coming in June.

Fable Friends Easter Treats

I finally got around to ordering the Stamping' Up! envelope punch board having seen some lovely projects on Pinterest that I wanted to try. For the boxes I have made here, I followed a fantastic tutorial  - https://pootles.co.uk/2017/01/23/playful-palette-envelope-punch-board-versatile-box/

The box is made from a single sheet of 6 x 6 dsp - I have used the brights pack.

With the box made I reached for my firm favourite set Fable Friends to decorate. The rectangle shape is very vanilla cardstock cut using the incredibly thin die from the Frosted Bouquet Framelits. I stamped the greeting in smoky slate and then stamped the bunny, he looks like he is poking his head in to say hello!

The bunny head was then stamped again on a scrap of very vanilla, the benefit of stamping it twice like this is 1 - you get to see the whiskers without having to fussy cut them and 2 - you get to have his ears sticking up above the line of the rectangle.

The bunny was coloured using stampin' blends in crumb cake and ivory, I added a little pink to his ears and nose and his jacket is in balmy blue. Fussy cutting the head was straightforward without having to deal with those little whiskers.

All that was left to do was to stick the bunny's head on the rectangle panel and then stick the panel on the box. I put a little shredded paper inside to sit the mini malteser bunny on and tied it up with ribbon that was both tight enough to stay on but loose enough to slip off.

The Fable Friends stamp set is in the current Spring/Summer catalogue which runs until the end of May. I have no idea if it will carry over in to the new annual catalogue; if you like it, my advise is don't leave it too late.

Below you will find the links to all products used, don't forget to use the host code if you would like to place an order, you will find a link to details at the top of the bar on the right hand side of my blog.

#Simple stamping with soon to be retired colours

The 2017/19 in colours will soon be retiring. I will particularly miss lemon lime twist but I'm excited to see the new 2019/21 colours.

April's #Simple Stamping challenge is to use some/all of these colours. For this card I have chosen to use Berry Burst, Tranquil Tide and Lemon Lime Twist. I picked the Oh So Eclectic stamp set, I love the slightly abstract look of the images in this set and think the modern look works well with vibrant colours.

The card base is A6 size in Berry Burst with a slightly smaller rectangle of white for the front and inside of the card. On the front I first stamped the more solid leaf in lemon lime twist randomly around the outside edge, then the 'criss cross' leaf in tranquil tide, lastly the stemmed flower in berry burst. This needs to be stamped before adhering to the card base as you are stamping off the edge.

Next I stamped the 'crosses' texture stamp in the white space, I stamped off 2 or 3 times first as I only wanted a little colour behind the sentiment which is in berry burst.

I don't often stamp inside a card but I felt the white panel needed something to link it to the berry burst card base. I used the same stamps/colours as the card front but stamped off to give a much softer look. I'm really happy with how it turned out.

Thanks for looking,
Katie x
